Vehicles in German City Discovered Covered with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Authorities mentioned they were alerted by a individual who discovered a car in Hanau covered with reddish liquid

Around 50 vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Automobiles, building surfaces and postboxes were marked, sometimes with swastikas, they reported in a release.

Officers report they were contacted late on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued substance.

The fluid had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Officers then discovered multiple other marked cars and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Officials report preliminary tests show the substance was probably blood from a person.

"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; investigators are currently not informed of any injuries in association with the event," they commented.

Municipal representatives said they were working "to resolve the mystery" and have asked to the residents for details.

A senior political figure stated the vandalism left him without words and required to be resolved rapidly.

"This incident affects the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing violent incident half a decade ago," he posted on social media, recalling the death of nine individuals by a assailant targeting individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
