19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been won on hardcourt
A comeback Medvedev secured his first title for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.
The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging period, winning just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.
Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in particular - caused him dropping out of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with former mentor Gilles Cervara.
Presently training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Moutet.
This marks the player's initial title after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt from that period of 2023.
Success also means Medvedev has achieved 21 victories at twenty-one distinct events.
"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my two daughters together, so to win a trophy is really nice," commented ranked player the champion.
"This victory is in honour of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his previous six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.
The player's defensive approach and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had led commentators to doubt if his ability to play at the elite level was finished.
However the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, attempting to approach the net and perform assertively, supported by an enhanced serve.
The champion fought back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, winning 4 of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.
The pair swapped breaks in the second set before Moutet, striving for his initial professional victory, seized the initiative to push for a third set.
Moutet rescued four initial break points in a competitive final set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to serve for the match.
Suitably, he earned the win with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
